<\/a>\nWe kindly invite you to the launch of \u201cPaul Neagu – The Monograph\u201d, a publication dedicated to the Romanian-born, UK-based artist Paul Neagu (1938\u20132004). The Monograph represents the first comprehensive overview of the artist\u2019s oeuvre at a time when his activities as an artist, both in Western and Eastern Europe, are ripe for reassessment.
\nThe event is organised by The Paul Neagu Estate (UK) with the support of The Romanian Cultural Institute in London, and will feature a conversation between the book\u2019s two editors, Magda Radu and Georg Sch\u00f6llhammer.
\nAfter the presentation of the Monograph, Daconis SRL invite the participants to try a selection of their wines produced in the vineyards of Valea Tiganasului, in the South of the Republic of Moldova, under the Terra Dacia label.

The exhibition highlights all the stages in Paul Neagu\u2019s working career, presenting a vast selection of drawings, objects, sculptures, documentation of performances, and other adjacent materials, such as artist books, sketchbooks, and photographs. Neagu\u2019s work is being rediscovered by artists, critics, curators, and thinkers in various fields, and has become a source of inspiration due to its engagement with a multiplicity of disciplinary approaches, which transcends cultural and geographic contexts and goes beyond such dichotomies as nature\/culture and subject\/object in the practice and reception of the artistic act. Alongside many other characteristics that make it inciting for the present day, Neagu\u2019s art is particularly relevant thanks to the innovative way in which it conjoins the body and the senses in order to reach a spiritualised knowledge that re-imagines the place and the role of the human in the world and its relationship with the cosmic dimension. \nThe exhibition will be opened by H.E. Laura Popescu, Ambassador of Romania and Iolanda Costide and Paul Ciucur, trustees of TPNE(UK). Esteemed British architecture critic Hugh Pearman, now president of the 20th Century Society, will talk about the artist’s striking \u2018architectural essays\u2019 in a lecture entitled \u2018Paul Neagu: Defining Space\u2019. \nThe most pivotal decade of Neagu\u2019s career started in the early 1970s. His works were exhibited three times\u2014in 1972, 1976 and 1981\u2014at the Rivolta gallery in Lausanne, with which he had a close personal relationship. For each of those shows Neagu took a holistic approach, also designing the decor and staging elements. The exhibition at MAMCO (Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art moderne et contemporain) features a substantial body of engravings and drawings produced by Neagu for the Lausanne-based gallery, as well as a collection of archive documents provided by the Rivolta family. It pays tribute to a singular artist who preferred to stay out of the limelight but who, in his own unassuming way, made a lasting impact on the European art scene.
